Having a will goes a long way in making sure your wishes for your property after your death are followed. Even if you feel like you don’t have much, you probably have more than you think. It will do a lot to prevent your children, grandchildren, or other heirs from fighting. Especially if you own land, or a vehicle, having a plan for those items will save your family a lot of headaches after your passing. Even if you do not own land or a vehicle, you more than likely have some property and it is a good idea to make a plan for how that property is to be divided.

A Will is a written declaration by you of what is to happen to any property that you own. Without a will, your property must be administered through a more complicated and expensive process and there is a possibility that your property could end up belonging to the government, and nobody wants that to happen. Making a will, in most cases, is relatively easy, but it does have to be done a certain way under Georgia law and there could be unintentional tax consequences if worded improperly.

Discussing death is uncomfortable for most people, but having a plan will likely give you some ease of mind knowing that your wishes are planned out and that there will be a smaller chance of infighting among your family members.
